Procedure to Update Galaxy 3 I5801 with latest Cyanogen mod 7.2 Firmware:

• Before proceeding, ensure that you have rooted your Galaxy 3 I5801. If you haven’t rooted then you need to root the same by following the instructions mentioned in the above link.

• Download the Cyanogen mod 7.2 Firmware Package & Google Apps Package in your computer and then connect your Galaxy 3 device with the computer using the Original USB cable. Now, place these two downloaded zip files in your device’s internal memory.

• Once the zip file is placed, disconnect the device and turn off the phone so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. The recovery mode in Galaxy 3 I5801 can be entered by pressing the Volume Up Key + Volume Down button and keeping both of these pressed, you now need to press Home button and Power button. Just in case if the device starts in the normal mode, then you will have to again retry the process of entering in the recovery mode.

• Select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the Cyanogen mod  firmware package and then select “Yes” with the help of Volume rocker keys and Menu button. Also, after this, you need to select the Google Apps Zip package which you have placed in your device.

• Once the firmware is applied successfully, you now need to select “Go BACK” and select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.

Note: In a rare case if the device refuses to boot or gets in the boot loop mode, you need to re insert the battery and turn ON the device normally. You can also re apply the update by following the above mentioned steps.
