Download and install - Update Galaxy R I9103 with CM 10 Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware

 

Procedure to Update Galaxy R I9103 with CM 10 Jellybean 4.1.2 based Firmware:
  • Download the CM 10 Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware package and Google Apps Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and place the two downloaded zip files in your Galaxy R, ensure that you are not placing the file deep into the device as it may not get detected in the recovery mode.
  • Turn Off your Samsung Galaxy R I9103 so that it can be entered in the Recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by “Pressing Volume Up key+ Menu Key + Power ON the device”. Once you enter into the recovery mode, you need to select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition” so that this will clear the cache in your device.
  • In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” after which you need to select the CM 10 Firmware Package which you have placed in your device and then select the Google Apps Package. Please note that once the files are selected, it will take around 5 -6 minutes for applying the update.
  • Once the update is applied successfully, select “go back” and “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode. Please note that it may take longer time than expected for rebooting the device as it’s the first time the device is being rebooted after updating the firmware.
Note: If your Galaxy R refuses to boot or gets in the boot loop mode, you need to re insert the battery and turn ON the device normally. You can also re apply the update by following the above mentioned steps.

Download and install - Update Galaxy R I9103 with Official ICS Android 4.0.4 Firmware

 
Procedure to Update Galaxy R I9103 with Official ICS XWLP2 Android 4.0.4 Firmware:
  • Download the XWLP2 ICS 4.0.4 Firmware Package and Odin from here to your computer. Once downloaded, extract both the zip files preferably to your desktop and Open ODIN in your computer.
  • Up next, turn off your Galaxy R I9103 device so that it can be entered in the download mode. Download Mode in Galaxy R I9103 can be entered by pressing the Volume Down rocker key + power button at the same time while the device is turned Off. If the device starts in the normal mode, you need to re try the process of the entering the device into the download mode.
  • Once the device enters in the Download Mode, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and click on “PDA” in Odin to select the tar file which you got after extracting the XWLP2 firmware. Ensure that the ID : COM section in Odin has turned yellow or else the firmware can’t be applied.
  • Click on “Start” for starting the process of firmware update. As soon as the firmware is updated successfully, the Galaxy R will be rebooted. It will take around 4 – 5 minutes for rebooting the device. Please note that it may take longer time than expected for applying the update.
Note: If the device gets into the boot loop sequence or say gets stuck in the welcome screen, just re insert the battery and re follow the above instructions so as to again follow the above mentioned instructions.

How to Update Samsung Galaxy R I9103 with ICS 4.0.4 Firmware


Procedure to update Galaxy R I9103 with Latest ICS 4.0.4 Firmware:
  • Download the latest ICS 4.0.4 Firmware Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, extract the RAR archive using WinRAR / 7 Zip & copy the extracted files into the external memory card in the following directory,
/sdcard/external_sd/clockworkmod/backup/
  • Now, disconnect the device and turn off the same so that it can be entered in the recovery mode.
  • The recovery mode in your Samsung Galaxy R I9103 can be entered by “Pressing Volume Up key+ Menu Key + Power ON the device”. Once you enter into the recovery mode, you need to select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition” so that this will clear the cache in your device.

  • Once it’s over, the device will be landing on the recovery mode. In recovery mode, select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device. It will take more than 5 -6 minutes for rebooting the device as it’s the first reboot after the update. It will stuck on the Samsung Logo for 2 -3 minutes.
