Quick Pre Requisites:
  • All the data in your Galaxy S3 should be backed up with the help of below mentioned manual steps. Don’t make use of KIES for backing the data up as it may not help you detect the device as this being the custom ROM firmware.

  • You need to root the device so as to continue. Once done, you now need to download the “ROM Manager” app from Google PLAY Store and install the custom recovery image in your Galaxy S3.
  • Once custom recovery image is installed successfully, open the ROM manager app to enter the device in recovery mode.
  • Alternatively, recovery mode in Galaxy S3 can be entered by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device.
  • In recovery mode, select options to clear and wipe the data present in your phone by selecting the options like “Clear Data” and “Wipe Cache”.
  • Once done, you now need to select the option of “install zip from sd card” and then select the firmware zip file which you have placed in the device and then followed by the Google Apps Package. It will take around 4 -5 minutes to apply both the zip files in your device.

  • Turn off your device so that it can be entered in the Download Mode. Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons to enter the device in the Download Mode. If your Galaxy S3 i9300 enters in the Normal mode, then you need to re try the process of entering the device in the Download Mode.
  • Connect your device to the computer using the original USB cable to see that the ID: COM section turns Blue which indicates that all the drivers have been installed in the computer.
  • Now, in Odin, select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. But, the Re-Partition option must be checked.
  • Click on “AP” to choose the tar file which you got after extracting the firmware file. Once the tar file is selected, click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. Please note that the whole process of firmware update will take around 4 -5 minutes and once done, you now need to wait to see “PASS” in Odin.
  • Once the firmware is applied successfully, you need to head over to the path Settings > More > About Phone where the current version of firmware will be mentioned as XXUGND1.
  • If you get to see the Google Apps crashed, you need to enter the device in the recovery mode. Press and hold Home + Power + Volume Up buttons to enter the device in the recovery Mode.  In recovery mode, select “Clear Cache/ Wipe Data” options to clear the cache and wipe the data.
Note: If at all your Galaxy S3 I9300 smartphone gets in the boot loop mode, then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can reinsert the battery or say you can long press the power button and repeat the whole process again.

How to Root Galaxy S3 GT I9300 on XXUGNB6 Firmware

Procedure to Root Galaxy S3 GT I9300 on XXUGNB6 Firmware:
  • Download  XXUGNB6 Rooting Package along with Odin from here to your computer. Once downloaded, you now need to enter your Galaxy S3 I9300 in download mode.
  • Turn off your Galaxy S3 I9300 and after 5 seconds or when your device gives a small vibration, hold the Volume Down button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device to see the Green Robot on the screen.
  • Connect your device in Download mode with the computer in which you have opened the Odin. In Odin you will see that the ID:COM section will turn yellow indicating that all the drivers are installed successfully.
  • Once done, click on “PDA” / “AP” depending upon the Odin version to choose the Rooting tar file which you got after extraction and click on “Start” to start the process of rooting. It will take around a minute for rooting the device. In some cases it may taken even longer time than expected.
  • Download the “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store to check on whether the device is rooted or not. Just in case if the device is not rooted, you need to retry the process of rooting.
Tip: Since rooting voids warranty, if you need to get back the lost warranty, you need to update the device with the below mentioned firmware by following the respective instructions.

Procedure to Update Galaxy S3 I9305 with XXBMA3 Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware Update:
  • Turn Off your phone so that it can be entered in the download mode. Download mode in Galaxy S3 GT I9300 can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which you will get to see a green robot indicating that the device has entered in the download mode.
  • Connect your phone in the download mode to the computer while keeping Odin opened. Once you connect, you will see that the ID: COM section will turn Yellow indicating that all the drivers have been successfully installed.
  • Click on “PDA” to select “TAR File” which you got after extracting the firmware file and then click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. As soon as the firmware is updated successfully, the device will be rebooted automatically indicating that the firmware has been updated successfully.

Download and install - Update Galaxy S3 with Official Jellybean 4.1.2 XXELKC Firmware

Procedure to Update Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with the Latest Jellybean 4.1.2
  • Download the Latest Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware Package and Odin from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and place the zip file in your Galaxy S3’s external SD Card.
  • Once you have placed the zip file, disconnect the device and turn Off your phone so that it can be then entered in the Download Mode.
  • The download mode in Galaxy S3 GT I9300 can be entered in recovery mode by pressing the Volume Up rocker key + power button at the same time while the device is turned Off. If the device starts in the normal mode, you need to re try the process of the entering the device into the download mode.
  • Open Odin in your computer and connect your Galaxy S3 while it’s in the download mode with the computer and then you will see that after a minute the ID : COM section will turn Yellow indicating that all the drivers are successfully installed.
Note: If ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,

  • Please note that it may take more than 5 -6 minutes for applying the update and to reboot since it has to finalize all the app data etc. Once the device shows up the home screen, navigate to “Settings > About Phone” the current firmware version will be mentioned as Jellybean 4.1.2.
Note: If the device gets into the boot loop sequence or say gets stuck in the welcome screen, just re insert the battery and re follow the above instructions so as to again follow the above mentioned instructions.

Download and install - Update Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 Omega v33.2 Jellybean 4.1.2 Custom Firmware

Procedure to update Galaxy S3 GT I9300 with Omega v 33.2 Custom ROM firmware:
  • Download the Omega v 33.2 Custom ROM Firmware Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your phone to the computer and place the zip file in your external sd card and not in your phone memory.
  • Disconnect the device from computer and turn off your Galaxy S3 so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. Recovery mode in Galaxy S3 GT I9300 can be entered by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, turn ON your device.

Procedure to Update Supreme Custom ROM Firmware in Galaxy S3 GT I9305:
  • Download Supreme Custom ROM Firmware package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer and place the zip file in device’s external sd card.
  • Disconnect the device and download the “ROM Manager” app from the Google PLAY Store and select the option of “Enter into Recovery Mode”. Alternatively, you can also enter your S3 in the recovery mode manually with the help of below mentioned step.
  • Hold the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button) and while holding these both keys, press the Power button for turning the device ON in the recovery mode in your Galaxy S3.

  • Download the latest NxtGen Custom ROM firmware Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the original USB cable and place the zip file in your device’s internal memory.
  • Once you have placed the file in your Galaxy S3, disconnect the device from computer and download the ROM Manager app from the Google PLAY Store. Procedure to Root Galaxy S3 on XXDLIH Jellybean 4.1 Firmware:

  • Disconnect the device and turn off the device so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. Recovery mode in Galaxy S2 GT I9100 can be entered by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, turn ON your device. In recovery mode, select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition”. If the device starts normally, then you will need to re try the process of entering the device in the recovery mode.
