How to Update Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Galaxy Nexus Looking ICS 4.0.4 Firmware

Procedure to Update Galaxy S2 with Galaxy Nexus Looking Firmware:
  • Download the Galaxy Nexus for Galaxy S2 Firmware Package & Google Apps Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your Galaxy S2 with the computer using the original USB cable and place these two zip files in your device’s SD Card. Ensure that you are not placing the files deep into the phone.
  • Disconnect the device and turn off the same so as to boot the device in the recovery mode. Recovery mode in Galaxy S2 GT I9100 can be entered by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, turn ON your device. In recovery mode, select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition”. Additionally, select “advanced” and clear the Dalvik cache too if you are on the custom ROM firmware.
  • Select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the Jellybean 4.1 firmware package and then the Google Apps Package to select “Yes” with the help of Volume rocker keys and Menu button. Once the file is selected, it will take around 4 – 5 minutes for applying the same. Once the update is applied, you will be redirected to the recovery mode screen.
  • In recovery mode, select “Go Back” and select the “reboot system now” for rebooting the device normally.
Note: Just in case if the device doesn’t boot up or say gets into the boot loop sequence, you need to long press the power button or reinsert the battery to turn off the device and retry the whole process from start.
To check on whether the device is updated or not, you can check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone” where you can see that the current firmware version is ICS 4.0.4 Firmware. Do share with us in the comments section just in case if you face any issues and we will try out level best to sort out the same.
